🌱 Post-Babbel Community – Would you be up for this?

Updated: Jun 8

Hi everyone,I'm Guillermo — I was a Spanish teacher at Babbel Live, like many of you here.

After the announcement, a lot of us felt confused, disappointed… and disconnected. But in the middle of all that, something really powerful happened: messages started pouring in from students and teachers who didn’t want to lose what we had, not just the lessons, but the human side of Babbel Live.

So here’s what we’ve started to build, together:

✅ A simple, community-first alternative

We’re putting together a lightweight structure where:

  • Teachers can share their availability, languages, and prices via a short form

  • A public directory will list each teacher’s info, plus links to book and pay them directly (no platform fees)

  • I need ideas on how to organize groups effectively on the page

  • Teachers stay in control, and students can easily reconnect

We’re not creating a big company or a fancy startup. Just something simple and flexible like Babbel Live was at its best.

🧪 Soft launch coming soon

We already have a tech team with a UX/UI designer and two tech contributors helping us build a very basic version — enough to run a beta with real teachers and students. We’ll test it, learn from it, and grow together.

The idea is to launch a skeleton version in the next few weeks. Just enough to:

  • List teachers

  • Let students book classes directly

  • Keep our community alive and accessible

💬 How you can help or join

If you’re a teacher who wants to be listed, or a student who wants to stay connected, let us know in the comments or DM me.

If you want to help build this, organize, test, or spread the word — also reach out! This is not my project. It’s ours. And we need all kinds of hands, voices, and ideas.

Let’s make sure the spirit of Babbel Live doesn’t disappear — let’s rebuild it, together.

Thanks so much for reading, Guillermo
